WHAT WE’RE LISTENING TO

HEATHER: Wisdom from the Top with Guy Ray is a great podcast that gives direct insight into the minds of the worlds’ most successful leaders. It does wonders in helping me shape my mentality, especially before a busy day.

CONNOR: The new Decemberists album came out three months ago and I still have it on repeat. It’s so vibey and really feels impactful in this late summer, early autumn season with big changes in the air. Their poetic storytelling is remarkable; feels like I’m listening to a music book on tape.

WHAT WE’RE WEARING

HEATHER: Working mom who needs to move her body to re-center before she hops back on Zoom calls seeks something she can wear for a quick paddle with the girls before throwing on a cardigan to cover up - this surf onesie from Free People is IT.‍

CONNOR: Meanwhile, I’m a sucker for a good lounge set that I can feel super comfy in throughout the day and still feel decent running errands, taking the dog for a walk, et cetera. This set (bottom, top) from Anthropologie is my favorite right now.

CAMPAIGNS WE LOVE

HEATHER: KamalaHQ is ON IT! They’ve tapped in to social media in a way that has never been done for a presidential campaign, and it’s working. Gen Z and Millennial supporters are coming out of the woodwork in droves, and use of humor and creative ties to pop culture really helped to blow the campaign announcement out of the water with no sign of slowing down. Their meme-ification and lightheartedness, interspersed with serious messaging and compassion, feels authentic, relatable, and endearing. It’s charming and brilliant!

CONNOR: If there’s one brand that always keeps me excited for their next campaign, it’s Olipop. They started teasing a mysterious new flavor on August 1st with a giveaway, and continued a splashy, branded Olipop University campaign through the month with collegiate visuals and blacked-out memos describing the chance for college students to receive their share of 25,000 cans of the new, naturally caffeinated flavor. Would I wear an Olipop letterman jacket? Yes. Will I clear the Target shelves of this new flavor as soon as it arrives? Also yes.


WHAT WE’RE READING

HEATHER: Want to feel transported into the lives of an iconic 1970’s rock group in the midst of a meteoric rise? Read Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid (and then binge the mini series on Amazon). Fleetwood Mac fans everywhere feeling like they’ve heard this story before…‍

CONNOR: It might come as a shock to absolutely no one that I was a literature nerd in high school, and that my love of spooky things made me predisposed to loving The Scarlet Letter (and anything by Hawthorne, really). Laurie Lico Albanese has reimagined the story of Hester Prynne through the lens of relatable feminism and the powerful spirit of womanhood with Hester, and I can’t get enough.
